The Green Apple Environment Awards is an annual campaign, launched in 1994. Winners receive distinctive Green Apple trophies and could go on to represent their country in the European Business Awards for the Environment, for which the Green Apple Awards is one of the few official feeder schemes. Winners also have the opportunity to have their work published in The Green Book, the work of reference on environmental best practice that is distributed around the world. The overall winner from all sectors also wins a free holiday for two in AquaCity, Slovakia – voted the world's greenest resort.
