The Northwest Business Environment Awards, now in their eighth successive year, are the most prestigious celebration of environmental business excellence in the North West of England. The annual awards ceremony, hosted by ENWORKS and the Northwest Regional Development Agency, is a celebration of the cream of the region's most environmentally conscious and commercially astute businesses.

Companies, large and small, across all business sectors in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside, compete to be crowned as one the North West's 'green heroes'. Each of the six main award categories recognises individuals or companies taking the most significant steps towards putting environment concerns at the heart of their business success.

The scheme's vision is to keep the environment firmly on the business agenda and help to embed environmental business excellence throughout the North West business community. It continues to attract the highest calibre of applications from all sectors of industry, from multinationals to innovative business start-ups.

In 2010 the awards attracted record numbers of entries across all categories, with the winners will receive their accolades at an afternoon ceremony with guest speaker, Jonathon Porritt, to be held on 19 October at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.

This year the Northwest Business Environment Awards are sponsored by Business Link Northwest, the Centre for Construction Innovation, C-Tech Innovation, Envirolink Northwest, Foundation, Groundwork Northwest, the Institute of Directors and Lancaster Environment Centre.
