Top Venue for Green Apple Awards

Green Apple Award winners in the building and construction industry have been invited to collect their awards at one of London’s top venues – East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf. The presentation ceremony will be on June 25 when  International Green Apple Awards for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage are presented to builders, architects, developers and anyone else in the construction industry who can demonstrate that any of  their projects enhances the built environment.

The Green Organisation has been running this prestigious international campaign since 1994, with awards for buildings of all sorts – from terraced properties to stately homes, from shops and offices to historic buildings, from barn conversions to national monuments.

National organiser Roger Wolens explained: “There are sectors for buildings and structures both ancient and modern – even new-builds.  The main requirement for eligibility is that they make a positive environmental contribution to their surroundings, or have some sustainable benefit such as solar panels.

“We particularly want to reward those people who preserve and protect the older buildings that embody our architectural heritage, but we also want to encourage the current builders to create something that we can all be proud of.”

The Green Organisation is an international, independent, non-profit, non-political, non-activist environment group, dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.  They are supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health,  SAVE Britain’s Heritage and several other environmental groups.
