This year marked the 11th anniversary for the awards, and despite the economic challenges the country faces, the Sustainable City Awards received over 300 applications. Proof-positive that organizations which focus on resource efficiency, supply chain value and innovation are best able to weather the financial storm.
This year’s panoply of sustainability leaders were revealed on 1 March 2012 at the glittering Mansion House awards ceremony, hosted by Raymond Blanc, Chef Patron of le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons.
The judges at this year’s event chose to award the Sustainable City Trophy to The Alumet Group a company which has built its competitive advantage by focusing on sustainability as a core ethos of the business.
An honourable mention also went to The Royal Brompton Hospital who won the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Leadership Award for their work on sourcing locally grown food and managing their environmental impact.
